What to Expect During The Appointment...

Some general rules, questions I'll ask, and what you'll need to have at the time of appointment

General Information

At the time of appointment, the following must be available:

  • Any person included in the Notary Act MUST be present (in person) at the time of notarization. 

  • Identification will be required at the appointment for each person part to the Notary Act

    • Examples of Acceptable ID - Driver's License, State Issued ID, Passport, Government Issued Identification with signature.  

  • Paper documents must be available, as this is what will be notarized. 

    •  At this time, I do not have the ability for eNotary or electronic notary. (Should you need a paper copy of the document to be notarized please let me know prior to the appointment)

  • The document will be reviewed for blank space, only. If blank space is present, you may be asked to strike through the space and initial before the notarization occurs.​​

  • The document will be reviewed for a notary wording. If notary wording does not exist, you will be asked to select the notary act to be performed (a listing will be provided for view). I AM NOT ALLOWED to select the notary wording used. ​​

  • Things I will ask:

    • Do you understand the document that you are signing?​

    • Do I have your permission to apply (write) the notary wording on your document (if applicable)?

  • Please be advised that without the required information, identification, your understanding of the document being notarized, etc. I can and will REFUSE to perform the Notary Act. ​

    • If this should occur, you will be advised why I will not perform the Notary Act and will require payment for travel and service charge. ​A discount will be provided if a follow up appointment to provide the refused Notary Act is made within 14 days. 

  • What I cannot do:

    • Give legal advice​

    • Pick notarial wording 

    • Advise you of the notarial wording to select
